Private Training Sessions & Behavior Consulting

At Chirrups and Chatter we utilize science-based training methods that include positive reinforcement, counter-conditioning, and desensitization. We will create a customized training plan designed for you and your dog’s combined success. The training plan will be built around your goals and your pet’s individual behavior needs. We’ll also get you started with practical, effective introductory training exercises & environmental management recommendations to improve things right away.

We have the knowledge and experience to manage, resolve, and prevent many types of dog behavior and training issues such as:
  • Attention-seeking behaviors
  • Destructive behaviors
  • Aggression
  • Fear-based behaviors
  • New pet introductions
  • Pulling on the leash
  • Separation anxiety
  • Nuisance behaviors (jumping at guests, counter-surfing, etc.)

Cooperative Care

Does the thought of going to the vet with your dog make you feel stressed or scared? Does your dog try to hide or bite the veterinary staff, or get worked up about nail trims or having their ears cleaned? We can help! We understand how difficult these situations can be, and want to work with you to help make veterinary visits (including travel to and from) less stressful and much easier on both of you.

As an Elite Fear Free and Low Stress Handling Certified Registered Veterinary Technician and Trainer, Tabitha is uniquely equipped to understand the processes involved in medical procedures. This gives her an advantage over other trainers, as she is able to implement plans with realistic expectations and train your dog through every step required to feel comfortable and in control at a veterinary visit.

Tabitha wants to help you understand what your dog is experiencing when they go to the vet. She can teach you some simple techniques to help your dog be more comfortable traveling to the veterinary office, and create a personalized plan to turn your dog into an active and cooperative participant in their veterinary care.

Friends for Life: Senior Pet Wellness

We love our pets, for their whole lives. But growing older can present new challenges for our senior dogs, and mobility and sensory changes can affect their quality of life. Sensory losses such as sight or hearing and mobility difficulties from aging can slow down your senior, and change the kind of veterinary care, training, and enrichment they need going forward.

As a Registered Veterinary Technician and Pet Trainer, Tabitha can assist in increasing your senior pet’s quality of life, and can also help them stay engaged with life for longer.

During a Senior Pet Wellness Consultation, she will examine ways to:

  • Increase and maintain cognitive function through training
  • Explore new ways to train your pet as they age to accommodate vision or hearing challenges
  • Find creative ways to meet your pet’s new mobility challenges
  • Provide new types of enrichment for your pet to easily enjoy
  • Create a home exercise plan to improve your pet’s mobility and strength
  • Train cooperative care behaviors or desensitize to veterinary procedures that your pet may have to endure more often as they age
